How do you make great espresso coffe at home?

I have an espresso machine that I bought for 50$ bucks at target. And it actually makes excellent coffee, not as good as Starbucks, but pretty good. The only thing I don’t know how to do is actually make a good espresso with all of the works.
Yesterday I went out and bought myself some chocolate syrup, honey, vanilla, sugar, and milk. Hopefully I can use these to make something good.
If someone on here could share their secrets with my I would deeply appreciate it.
P.s. My machine also has a foam thingy on it, and I guess its supposed to make the coffee foam or something…

The foam thingy is to make steamed milk. If you want to make a great espresso drink, start with great espresso. Buy some beans that are specially made for espresso. Brew the espresso in the espresso part of the machine. Make sure that it is packed well so it doesn’t make a mess. Toward the end of the espresso’s brewing, put foam thingy into a small metal pitcher of milk along with chololate if you want a mocha or without chocolate for a latte. Turn the knob so that air is coming out of the foam thingy. (Be careful!) If you like your milk super foamy (like a cappuccino) keep the foam thingy toward the top, for less foam (like a latte or mocha) put it toward the bottom. You can put vanilla flavoring in the bottom of your cup if you would like. Pour the espresso over it, stir together. Then add your frothy milk. Viola! There are other drinks too. Just experiment and have fun.
